The immortalty of the moment
The footprints are marks we leave on our path, some we imprint intentionally, others involuntarily. Some leave something positive, others the opposite. We leave footprints not only on the people we interact with, but also in our cities, countries, and on the planet. I am Heriberto Gomes, a visual artist and creator of this series of works where I collect footprints from passersby in various cities around the world, with the purpose of awakening awareness about the footprints we leave in the lives of others. In this opportunity, my intention is to create an introspective and reflective experience that directly impacts the vast canvas of our existences, where each one paints strokes of influence and leaves a singular mark. Just like the works of art created with passion and expression, our actions, words, and gestures influence those who share our path. Footprints are more than simple ephemeral impressions; they are fragments of our being that resonate in the lives of others. Sometimes, these footprints are deeply etched in someone's heart, transforming their perspective, inspiring their spirit, and providing comfort in times of adversity. At other times, our footprints can be the spark that ignites the fire of creativity, courage, and perseverance in those around us. In this exhibition, we dive into the depths of the human soul and explore the multiple facets of the footprints we leave. Through these works, I seek for you to reflect on how our actions have the power to change lives, inspire hope, and connect people on a deeper level. As you walk through this exhibition, I invite you to immerse yourself in this sacred space of introspection and contemplation, to recognize the responsibility that comes with leaving a meaningful footprint. I appreciate your presence and wish you a revealing journey through the wonders of the footprints we leave. The works in this series are named after the geographic coordinates of the exact location where the work was created, as well as the start and finish time.
